Domestic Violence Support Group Facilitator
Domestic Violence Support group facilitators work in locations throughout the community to support, educate and advocate for survivors of domestic abuse. Our program allows members to learn from each other and share in each other’s journey towards healing. NON-therapist facilitators lead weekly support groups for women who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, domestic abuse. Groups are held afternoons and evenings in various locations throughout Indianapolis. Groups cover a variety of topics aimed at empowerment and support for survivors. Group topics and supporting materials are provided for you by the volunteer coordinator.
NO EXPERIENCE FOR THIS POSITION IS REQUIRED.
We ask that all potential volunteers are ready to learn, listen and practice empathy. It is not required that a facilitator be a survivor of domestic violence. Contact Betsy Hall for program specific information, Betsyh@familiesfirstindiana.org.
Bilingual volunteers are greatly needed.
Facilitator time commitment:
• Initial volunteer training
• Commit to 6 months of volunteering
