Indianapolis, Ind. (December 2, 2020)—Announced today, two of Indiana’s most established nonprofit organizations are joining forces to better serve families and children. Children’s Bureau and Families First currently offer complementary services, and this merger will allow greater efficiency and impact.

“Children’s Bureau and Families First were once part of the same organization and have long been aligned by missions and approaches,” said David Siler, President & CEO, Families First. “We’re pleased to reunite, combining our resources and expertise to make an even greater impact in the communities we serve.”

Combined, both organizations will do even more to prevent child abuse by supporting and empowering families to reach self-sufficiency and stability. In addition, this merger helps both organizations go further to preserve families who easily become overwhelmed and discouraged by a multitude of service providers—becoming a destination with more of the expertise and resources families need to stay together.

“The impact of our work will be even greater as a result of this merger,” said Tina Cloer, President & CEO, Children’s Bureau. “By joining forces, we’ll be able to offer a more holistic approach to child abuse prevention, family preservation and recovery services.”

“When Families First and Children’s Bureau, two long-time partners of United Way of Central Indiana, decided to explore a merger, we were pleased to assist them with resources to perform due diligence and ultimately consummate the transaction. We offer our congratulations on this new chapter in their service to our community and to the important work they do for Hoosiers both in normal circumstances and in times like these,” said Ann Murtlow, President & CEO, United Way of Central Indiana.

Together, the two organizations will be doing the same important work to strengthen families, support children, and build more resilient communities.
