Indianapolis (August 2020) Families First has reached its $1 million fundraising goal for the Better Together campaign. This milestone was reached fourteen months into the silent phase of its three-year campaign.

Families First embarked on the $1 million Better Together campaign to acquire ownership of its newly renovated leased space at 2240 N. Meridian Street. Families First launched the silent phase in May 2019 and planned to announce the campaign to the public later in 2020.

Better Together is the most ambitious capital campaign in the organization’s history. The largest gift to the campaign, from Bill and Roberta Witchger, represents the greatest amount ever donated by an individual in the organization’s 185-year history.

"We were inspired to make this gift because everyone requires support at some point in their lives and that is more important than ever. Families First needs a stable home so it can offer that same sense of stability to all of its clients and the community,” exclaimed Roberta. “We are honored to be a part of the long history of Families First!"

Volunteer co-chairs of the Better Together campaign, Bob and Pat Anker, expressed their gratitude to donors: “The ability to overcome challenging situations is essential to the success of every resident in our community, and we are grateful that our donors recognize and support this.”

Clients experience the impact of donor’s support for this campaign every day through professional, affordable, counseling and services with improved accessibility, convenience, security, and dignity.

The Better Together campaign continues through November 26, 2020. That date marks the organization’s 185th year of service. In honor of this anniversary, The Clowes Fund is matching gifts of $185 (and multiples) up to $50,000.
